**Ask me about Funded hours
It is very important to prevent the spread of germs and illnesses that hygiene procedures are in place and strictly adhered to...
I will assist children with wiping their noses when they have colds and try to teach them how to blow their noses.
I will also encourage them to use their elbow to cough to sneeze if a tissue is not available when they cough.
I will not mind a child who has had Sickness and diarrhoea in the last 48 hours.
I have been inspected by the Food Standards Agency and met all the guidelines.
I will follow strict hygiene routines in my kitchen, ensuring my fridge is at the correct temperature and that food is stored correctly in it.
For me to carry out these procedures effectively I will need you to provide me with enough resources, for example, nappies, labelled cream, spare clothes for the children etc. I also request that you let me know if your child is feeling or has been unwell.
Hygiene
Children will be helped to wash and dry their hands regularly throughout the day including after using the toilet, playing outside or touching animals, and before eating any meals or snacks. I will regularly talk to children about why washing our hands is important to prevent the spread of germs and infections. I display a hand washing poster in my washroom.
I will provide liquid soap and disposable paper towels in the washroom to enable children to wash and dry their hands properly. The waste bin is emptied daily.
I will ensure tissues are available throughout the setting and encourage children to use them to catch coughs and sneezes. I teach them the importance of putting dirty tissues in the bin to prevent the spread of germs.
I will ensure my Hygiene Policy is strictly adhered to and introduce further measures to clean surfaces that are touched frequently such as toys, books, tables, chairs, doors, sinks, toilets, light switches and bannisters, more regularly than normal.
When working with babies and young children I will follow my Nappy and Toilet Training Policy and ensure strict hygiene procedures are followed at all times.
Parents will be asked to provide a spare change of clothes for their child which will be kept in a bag at the setting. Any soiled clothing will be double bagged and given to parents to be washed at home.
I will request that no toys, comforters, blankets etc are brought into the setting from home – if your child requires these items as a comforter, I could purchase duplicate ones to stay here to support your child.
Each child will have their own travel cot and bedding set for nap times which will be washed weekly and changed immediately if soiled.
I will remove all unnecessary soft furnishings and during minded hours, anything that cannot be removed will be sprayed daily with anti-viral spray.
All soft toys and toys with small intricate parts which are more difficult to clean will be removed and stored away.
Activities that involve the sharing of malleable or messy play materials such as sand, foam or play dough will be avoided unless I can provide each child with their own tools and individual amount of material that can be disposed of after play.
I will ensure good ventilation within the setting by keeping windows open where possible and not closing doors for small rooms.
I will provide children with their own cup or water bottle and their own cutlery to be used at meal times. All crockery and cutlery will be cleaned in the dishwasher on a hot wash and dried thoroughly before being stored for re-use. Children should not bring their own drinking vessels from home.
Except for formula milk for babies or foods supplied for special dietary requirements, all snacks will be provided at the setting. Any lunches that are sent should be sent in a plastic Tupperware box that can be wiped when arriving with diluted bleach or alcohol wipes to be stored in my fridge and all fruit and vegetables washed before storing away.
